All of the patterns in Swing Swagger and Shape are inspired by the landscape of Australia, where author Jane Slicer-Smith lives. This inspiration is most apparent in Jane’s choice of colors. You can see the Outback to the Sydney Opera House in her palette. Long dramatic coats and cardigans are well represented in this book. There are many patterns with a swing coat or A line silhouette. Most patterns are very colorful, and use a variety of techniques such as intarsia, mitered squares, basket weave, broken stripes, and patchwork motifs to keep the knitting interesting. Each pattern is knit in at least two color combinations, so it is easy to imagine the garment knit out of your personal favorite colors. Swing Swagger Drape contains patterns for women’s coats, cardigans, pullovers, vests, and hats, as well as a few men’s pullover patterns.

"I love unusual knitting patterns, and the coats in Swing, Swagger, and Drape are works of art inspired by the Australian landscape. There are lots of patterns for seriously dramatic, colorful coats, the sort of thing that is perfect for wearing to a fiber festival. Be prepared to be stopped and ask about your sweater, if you are wearing a design from Swing, Swagger, and Drape! These patterns are perfect for knitters who love color. There is lots of color, with mitered squares, entrelac, stripes, and intarsia incorporated into almost every pattern." Kelley Petkun, Owner
